This summer, Biscayne Bay is offering some of the best fishing conditions for bonefish, tarpon, and permit. The weather has been exceptionally calm, making for smooth runs and a more enjoyable experience on the water. One of the highlights of the summer is the lack of fishing pressure, as fewer boats have been out, giving anglers a great chance to target these prized fish without crowded fishing spots!
Bonefish have been particularly active on the shallow flats, especially during the incoming tide in the early morning. Light tackle and small shrimp or crab flies have been the go-to baits.
Tarpon fishing has been exceptional, especially in the early morning and just before sunset. The calm waters make it easier to spot them rolling on the surface, fly fishing and artificial lures has been highly effective.
Permit have been a bit more elusive but still present on the deeper flats and around the structure. Live crabs and small jigs have been the best choices.
Overall, the combination of calm weather and low fishing pressure has made this an exceptional Summer in Biscayne Bay. If you’re planning a trip, now’s the time Give me a Call at (786) 517-7261 or email Jp2436@ymail.com
